Did the media really do this to us? Is television the reason I can't sit down and write a paper? Is the internet infecting the world with ADD?
And if this isn't the case, why can't anyone seem to focus on anything anymore?
Is there freedom in realizing that turning on the radio at work makes us less lonely?

Here are six things I hate about the media:
1) Media theorists and hipsters always seem to think audiences are being brainwashed.
2) The materials it takes to make computer and televisions and amplifiers are turning the world's natural resources into unrecyclable poison.
3) Every time I start to feel like the world is genuine and that all people feel real things, I hear a radio DJ laughing at his own jokes about a burnt-out celebrity.
4) There is such an overwhelming amount of content available but no one ever really says anything new.
5) When I used to feel lost I used to be able to imagine that this was because I am different in some way. Now I feel lost just like everyone else.
6) The only cure for these things seems to be regression. But like an adult looking for his lost innocence we are burdened by our awareness of the present state.


When I feel bored, I try to forget who I am by turning on a show.
